Different types of Magnesium, facts on Magnesium absorption, and Magnesium food sources; you NEED to know this The health benefits of magnesium are undeniable, and the large majority of the population is deficient in this important nutrient. But making sure one is getting enough of it can be challenging. A lot of people might not know this. I didn’t. But there are in fact many kinds of magnesium and each seems to be more effective against particular ailments or provides a peculiar benefit. So it is important to understand the different types before determining the best form of magnesium for you and factoring in absorption rates is a helpful tool in making your decision. Here is a list of different forms of magnesium and facts you ought to consider before deciding which is the best form of magnesium for you:
- Magnesium from food sources: In the subject of absorption, the quickest and easiest way to maintain proper magnesium levels is eating it. In most cases, natural food is the best form of magnesium. Here is a list of foods that are high in magnesium: Vegetables and fruits
- Banana: Only 1 banana provides 32mg of magnesium. - Blackberries: 1 cup of fresh blackberries provides 29mg of magnesium. - Passion Fruit: Provides 29mg of magnesium per serving and a serving size is a medium sized fruit.- Raspberries: 1 cup of fresh raspberries provides 27mg of magnesium. - Avocado: Only a 1 ounce serving of avocado provides 8mg of magnesium. A whole avocado provides nearly 30mg. - Watermelon: 1 cup of cubed watermelon provides 15mg of magnesium. - Cooked Cabbage: Provides 12mg of magnesium in a 1 cup serving. Seeds and nuts
Beans
- Navy, Pinto, Lima, and Kidney Beans: 1 cup provides at least 20 to 25% of the recommended amount of magnesium each day.Fish
Herbs
- Chives, sage, basil, spearmint and savory: Provide at least 10mg per tablespoon.Other foods
- Calcium: There must be a proper balance between magnesium and calcium because are both fighting for absorption rights. Having too much calcium can restrict magnesium absorption and keep it low. This is why proper nutrient balance is so important.- Magnesium chloride can be applied to the skin.- Vitamins: Not having enough magnesium can disturb your vitamin stores, meaning that the absorption of not only your magnesium, but all of your other vital nutrients can be upset.- Spacing out dosages: Spacing out the dosage of whichever form of magnesium is chosen is fine. It will minimize side effects and the same quantity taken over a long period of time instead of all at once will increase absorption and reduce potential discomfort.

"Fleur de Sel (as a particularly noble variant) is considered by many consumers to be particularly valuable and tasty. It is produced as a very thin layer of salt on the surface of the water and is usually skimmed off by hand with a wooden scoop." - adalhelm

A lot people also think they are eating healthy natural salt by eating sea salt.
But here's the problem . . . the seas are polluted by plastic waste.
Therefore, because of this polluted ecological environment of ours in our modern time, there is in sea salt something termed "microplastic," plastic particles that have been rubbed on stone by the sea movement, stones so small they are barely recognizable.
"There are a lot of microplastics in Fleur de Sel. In a random sample, Markt (a German documentary show) and the Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) examined five of the most popular Fleur de Sel varieties in the laboratory for residues of plastics.

I am in agreement with adalhelm when he says that these microplastics are dangerous for our health, pointing out that a great deal of plastics contain estrogen-like ingredients that can negatively affect hormone balance, several ingredients in the plastic when consumed are carcinogenic, and that the microplastic can bind other toxins such as from from insecticides, dyes, and organic chlorine compounds, and also that such toxins can accumulate in the body.
And likewise do not agree with the excuses of the manufacturers that no action is required because average salt consumption is quite low, but agree it is best to abstain and instead use rock salt, which is where most of my salt comes from already anyway because how healthy and nutritionally beneficial it is.
Currently there are no limits for plastic particles in food, but if a great many people become aware of this and continue to raise more awareness and all of these people abstain from these products, manufacturers will be forced to take action themselves and find new technological advancements to purify their salt or otherwise go out of business. And I was the salt to be purified of bad unnatural toxins but not stripped of all of its good natural nutrients. So it is up to us to put the pressure on and make changes if we want to see greater change for the better.
Hopefully we can also see something positive and effective done about the pollution in our waters in the near future before things get too much worse.

Me:
Being heavier clearly gives one an advantage to lift heavy weights outside of someone's own body weight even if their weight is fat, because it grounds you more onto the ground with the weight. A huge 300 lb.er will have a stabler base to press 200 lbs. overhead from versus a 150 lb.er.
Someone else:
But if said 150lbs guy can press 200lbs overhead he is technically twice as strong, pound for pound, theoretically that is, in reality it most certainly does not work out like that lol
Someone else 2:
The reality is it doesn’t work that way except for in the SHW class. Within weight classes, competitions want to come in as lean as they reasonably can, because the more muscle they have, the more they’re going to lift. Muscles contract, fat doesn’t. Between two evenly proportioned athletes weighing the same, the more muscular one will outlift the other, every single time.
Me:
I'm not talking about evenly proportioned athletes. I'm talking about more body weight total regardless of what it is, fat or muscle, helps one get a leverage on external loads. If you have two guys who are both the same advanced lifters, same trained CNS, same muscle mass, but the one guy is quite a bit heavier because he has a bunch of extra fat weight, he will have a major advantage over the leaner guy because he's heavier. In calisthenics the leaner guy would whoop him because of internal load, moving the body through space versus moving external objects through space; especially in the bench, deadlift, overhead press, pushing against an object, or pulling a sled, etc. In the squat it might be harder for the heavier guy because he is moving his whole body through space and so he has a bunch of extra weight to lift, but even then, this might be the case but the opposite could just as well happen, since it is only a bilateral movement which has a foundation with a bunch of weight to rest on, and a heavier foundation will still be more stable, so even here... If it was more of a unilateral thing then it might be different since it requires so much balance and bigger heavier things need more balance. If you want to test this, go get two equally strong guys, one way heavier because he's fat and put them on the lat pull down with the whole stack. The one guy may have a hard time staying seated because the weight wants to lift him up but the heavy fat guy will pull the stack down with his weight, helping him lift it. Same if you push a heavy wagon. Look at that Kyriakos Grizzly fat lifter guy on YouTube. He does this thing where he pushes this heavy object without wheels across a room. It is very hard. If you had the same strength as him but you were way lighter than him, he would whoop you in a competition in seeing who could push that easier. Same if you were to try pulling a truck. And he would be able to overhead press with less wobbliness than you. I've experienced this myself by paying attention when I got lean and when I got fat, even though my muscle mass was the same.

AD's YouTube videos illustrating and explaining his issue:
Man, are you serious?! You especially should NOT have do all of these exercises with your arms fully locked out! That stuff looks really messed, cringe-worthy, painful, and just plain dangerous under heavy load!
You have nobody's (INCLUDING YOUR OWN EGO’S) standard to conform to over your own well-being and performance, sir! Yes, it is even about performance, because, for example, you did so well already on the overhead press even by having these hypermobile elbows doing that even at lockout. Like, your arms are literally starting to go in front of your body when you extend them fully overhead! That is NOT optimal! Imagine what weight you'd put up if you did not lock out all of the way with the added safety! It’s a win, win, my friend! Forget what all of the YouTube fitness clowns say!
Also, think about this. If you always train bodybuilding without doing enough mobility work and stretching, you can actually get tighter and less flexible in certain areas of your body. So by habitually not extending all of the way in the exaggerated way which your anthropometry allows on all of these exercises, you may actually eventually cause more tightness in that area and lose some mobility. Some of this may happen due to the bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments, the connective tissue, building up around that area in such way that some of this hyper mobility might be more restricted. And combine that with no longer using such an excessive range of motion, which such underuse will also cause less flexibility in that area, and you will most likely have a body adaptation which will eventually, at least somewhat, reduce this hypermobility. Because even just looking at man-made mechanical devices which are not used to their full range of motion potential or not used at all, they become tighter, sometimes stuck completely. And in this case, such a restriction of becoming less flexible in excessively extended joint angle being developed is actually desirable since such hypermobility is actually a deformity.

For people knocking Castleberry's curling form. Whether or not he is using fake weights and is a fraud is irrelevant for this. He's probably using the form he does to keep the tension on the biceps the best for growth in the particular way that he wants. He is a bodybuilder. I've seen many bodybuilders use this ROM where they don't go all the way up and lock the weight and also don't let their arms go 100% straight when they descend on biceps curls. It must be optimal for biceps gains. I've been using this technique lately for targeting the biceps and I've noticed that this is so for me. Because people who are known to have some of the most massive forearms and work them for their sport are arm wrestlers. And they use partial curls where they only do the top half of the ROM as staple exercise and they aren't known for their impressive biceps but their impressive forearms. But yeah, this weight is not too much for a big man like Castleberry and I even think 4 plates is not out of reach because I know of a man who is for sure natural who has done such weight with this same form. His name is Eric Bugenhagen.

Problem is everyone is deficient today because normal food is. Plus, having a common diet, even if it was enough, would not necessarily be most optimal. For example, in more ancient times, when man was not that advanced, he couldn't even get the foods from other lands we have access to now. Therefore he was missing out on a lot of benefits he could have had. So supplements can potentially actually help one to get a more optimal nutrition that would not be possible before. To say supplements are a scam or not a scam is completely over-simplified and just not the reality. You cannot get the amount of creatine you can get in supplement form from mere diet. It would take eating an unrealistic amount of beef. You can argue that maybe we shouldn't have that much or need it. But I've heard testimonies from credible people before that say that it did work for them. And creatine actually does have some Science backing it. One worry though is taking more that you can get in dietary form could cause health problems, like kidney problems. That is why people who are smart cycle it like they do gear. Take a long time off after your month long or whatever cycle is over. Some people get benefits and some don't. That's why I say to carefully research and experiment and do what is right for you the unique individual.

Apparently I’m not deficient because Creatine does nothing for me. Same with literally everyone I’ve asked or seen do a review on it. I’ve never seen proof that it works.
Do what WORKS FOR YOU health & fitness 1 second ago
Well, you said that of supplements in general, that they are only needed if someone doesn't a sufficient diet, so I responded about supplements in general in regards to everyone being deficient. I don't think really anyone out there is deficient in Creatine though, in terms of what we need, since it is really not possible to eat a realistic amount of meat that will get you anywhere near what you can get in supplemental form. So for Creatine it would not be about deficiency, but rather giving someone more Creatine than was previously possible before modern advancement, possibly giving one an edge that was before not possible naturally. Like how you can take injectable B-12 in higher doses easily into your system at once, or take a crap ton of Vitamins K-2 and D-3 and magnesium stack for a huge advantage of bones, joints, tendons, and ligaments strength, and the same for, though maybe not nearly as high of a degree, supplementing with Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate (I've gotten decent quite good help from this but haven't yet tried the K-2, D-3, Magnesium stack, which testimonies say is supposed to give an unreal boost in such). But yeah, Creatine was not really ever that special to me. All I noticed was a slight increase of endurance and recovery. Nothing special. But from certain other people that were not in supplement industry of anything, some just average guys, I've heard that some have gotten pretty crazy results. Ask Natural Gallant Bodybuilding about what his observations of Creatine have been, for example. But some people I knew also didn't get anything from it.

Our bodies convert glycine and arginine into creatine. You get those from meat and nuts. Which may explain why i respond fairly well to N.O. boosters. But creatine itself has shown in many legit non bias studies that it has poor oral bioavailability. I have never actually seen proof of creatine supplements providing any benefits. The only youtubers who promote are ones who sell it. Or they could be making videos about it just to get views.
Do what WORKS FOR YOU health & fitness 2 days ago (edited)
Thanks for sharing your experience and understanding. Do you think that your positive response to N.O. boosters was due to a deficiency of glycine and arginine, since you said supplements only work for people who are deficient in something in their normal diet?
Lean Figure Army 1 day ago
Most likely. When Im getting 200 grams of protein per day I get much less of an impact from any amino acid. Vegans would probably benefit the most.

Your experience is consistent with your position. Thanks again for sharing. Keep doing your thing.
In conclusion, my view, however, is not so black and white. Looking at the data on creatine, I think it is much more complex. Here are some links I think are helpful to learn more about creatine to see if it is something that you can safely take and if it might be helpful for you:-

I don't recommend anyone just start buying some new supplement or drug and just jumping into using it without first carefully studying about it, and even then after, carefully slowly getting into it and paying attention to what is going on with one's own body to notice for any subtle changes, good and/or bad. I also recommend one not do any exercise program, supplement or supplement stack, including but not limited to drug, and diet without first consulting their physician and at least carefully considering their advice.
Highlighted summary points:
- On June 18, 2018, Dewayne Johnson, a 48-year-old man from California will take Monsanto head-on, alleging that the company has been hiding the cancer-causing potential of Roundup for decades. At the same time he is fighting cancer. Doctors say Johnson has just a few short months left to live, but is driven to make sure Monsanto pays for the toxin they’ve spread across the world.
- "Judge Curtis Karnow issued an order last week that will allow jurors to not just consider evidence regarding what caused Johnson’s cancer — but also evidence that shows Monsanto’s been hiding the truth about glyphosate’s potential to cause harm."
- "some 4,000 plaintiffs have launched suits against the company similar to Johnson’s; they say that exposure to Roundup caused them (or their loved ones) to develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In St. Louis, Missouri, another trial is scheduled to take place in October."
- "An increasing number of studies have shown that glyphosate — the active ingredient in Roundup — is carcinogenic. Even the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer has concluded that glyphosate is a probable carcinogen, and yet, Monsanto’s assurances that their product is safe have remained enough to be law of the land. What kind of world are we living in, where corporations get final say instead of science?"
- "Recent research has shown that it’s not just glyphosate that’s the problem; the entire Roundup formulation is toxic. As reported, The U.S. National Toxicology Program (NTP) recently conducted its first-ever analysis of herbicide formulations that include glyphosate and other chemicals — and found that glyphosate becomes even more toxic when combined with other ingredients."
- "Johnson’s lawsuit alleges, Monsanto has “championed falsified data and attacked legitimate studies” that unveiled the potential threat posed by its herbicides, and engaged in a “prolonged campaign of misinformation” to trick regulatory agencies and the general public into believing their products are safe."
- "In 2017, a lawsuit was filed against the EPA — alleging that Monsanto had “influenced” their classification of the chemical. Reports state that the EPA had enough evidence to declare glyphosate carcinogenic but ultimately chose to say it was “not likely to be carcinogenic to humans.”"
- "a shocking letter from the late Marion Copley, former EPA scientist, revealed that “moles” inside the federal agency were working to keep glyphosate in good graces — and getting paid off by Monsanto for doing so."

With a new major Ebola outbreak in the Congo, namely the recent one in one of its major cities, and the WHO warning about an "explosive increase in cases," it is very beneficial to know about Ebola and its symptoms, if there are any natural remedies for it and what they are.
Before I begin, I am not engaging in fear porn for the sake of views and sales. This puts it well:
"First, it must be pointed out that, historically, Ebola virus outbreaks occur in some of the most impoverished places on Earth (primarily the poorest regions of Africa), among populations chronically malnourished, traumatized by sociopolitical unrest and wars, and where modern day sanitation, hygiene practices, and adequate nutrition, are available suboptimally, to say the least. In other words, the mainstream media's prediction of a so-called 'catastrophic' outbreak in the US and other wealthier countries does not seem to take into account the differing contexts that makes infections like these possible to begin with, with the 'inner terrain,' i.e. immune status of the host, fundamental in determining the degree to which an individual becomes susceptible to infection."
|
With that disclaimer, here's the lowdown on the current Ebola outbreak:
"The worst Ebola outbreak in a number of years has health officials on high alert, and the fact that a case is now being reported in a major city is extremely concerning. As we have seen during past outbreaks, Ebola can spread very rapidly, and the mortality rate during an outbreak is often above 50 percent. A few years ago, just rumors that Ebola might start spreading inside the United States caused quite a bit of panic out there. Let us hope that this current outbreak is brought under control quickly, because Ebola is a horrible, horrible disease."
